Description: When studying Greek culture, I stumbled upon a story of Michelangelo and his sculpture of David. I found it very interesting that the marble block he used had been considered unusable

by other craftsmen. However, Michelangelo found it to be workable and instead of dismissing it, he used the limitations of the block in his favor. I personally love stories where something is considered to be a total misfit and then blooms into literally the top of its category. I also wanted to dissect the image because I find it fascinating that in life you only see certain parts of people but you create what you think is a full representation of them. I integrated flowers and foliage into the image as well because I love the contrast between hard, ancient, and permanent stone and fragile, delicate, biological life. I love the correlation of flowers blooming and how David bloomed out of the marble slab.
